Superconducting NMR Magnet to Enhance Major Areas of Research
 
The world’s first and only actively shielded 950 MHz magnet will allow scientists to explore the three-dimensional structures of molecules and study their interactions with greater precision than ever before, significantly enhancing major areas of research such as drug development and nutrition.

U.S. billionaire David H. Murdock, chairman and owner of Castle & Cooke, Inc. and Dole Food Company, Inc. (both based in Westlake Village, CA, USA), announced that he is purchasing the BioSpin superconducting magnet developed by Bruker Biopsin Corp. (Billerica, MA, USA), which he intends to donate to the soon-to-be-formed non-profit David H. Murdock Research Institute. The Institute will be located on the North Carolina Research Campus (Kannapolis, NC, USA).
